Cornelia Schweppe is professor for Social Work at JGU and speaker of the research training group "Transnational Social Support”. She has published extensively on (trans-)migration and social support, aging, poverty and professionalization of social work. Schweppe has not only pioneered research on social support activities within transnational spaces, but she has also transcended the national boundaries of most research on social work and contributed significantly to the process of transnationalization of her field of research. She is well-known as founder and chief editor of the journal “Transnational Social Review” that has been established as one of the top journals in its field. She continuously engages in collaborative research with her research partners in Europe, Asia and the Americas and will expand these collaborations as GRC fellow with a special focus on “transnational aging and social support”.
