Achim Landwehr, professor for early modern history at Düsseldorf University, is an expert in methods and theory of historical research and cultural history. His monographs on historical discourse analysis and the cultural history of Europe are widely read. Furthermore, he investigated a wide range of issues, such as police and power in early modern times or the history of Venice in this period. Recently, Landwehr published an important study on the history of time in the 17th century.
