The artist and scientist Florian Dombois works both with seismologic and other natural science phenomena. He participated in the creation of several so-called virtual environments at the Fraunhofer Institute for Media Communication which were later presented at important exhibitions such as CeBIT. He also served as visiting lecturer at many outstanding research institutions worldwide, for example at the Art Center College of Design (California), the ATR Kyoto and the Bonn Art Gallery. Dombois founded the "Y Institute for Transdisciplinarity" in Bern and was recently appointed as professor at the Department of Cultural Analysis at Zurich University of the Arts.
